Santa Lucia in Selci

Interior

Santa Lucia in Selci (interior), photograph from
Howard Hibbard, 'Carlo Maderno and Roman architecture 1580-1630'

The picture shows the 17th century interior by Carlo Maderno and Francesco Borromini. The 19th century high altar with its, scarcely visible, grating by Borromini is seen in the apse. To the left we see the two chapels on the left hand. The first one, the Cappella Landi, with its delicate stucco decoration is the work of Borromini. The painting of the altar depicts The Holy Trinity with Saints Augustine and Monica, a work by Cavalier d'Arpino.
