Santa Maria del Divino Amore

Santa Maria del Divino Amore (Saint Mary of Divine Love), located at Via dei Prefetti 23,
isn't really a church, it's a mere street chapel, where the faithful gather, preferably in the evening. The chapel, which
belongs to the adjacent church of San Nicolà dei Prefetti, has a picture depicting the Virgin Mary in prayer. The picture
is surrounded by rays of golden light made of stucco. The chapel, which also has a small altar, is protected by a wrought
iron gate of elegant design. The chapel was probably erected during the first half of the 18th century, although it doesn't
appear in Giovanni Battista Nolli's map of Rome from 1748. The picture of the Virgin enjoys a great devotion, because it
allegedly moved its eyes in July 1796.
