Some of the churches of Rome are so unknown, that even the most renowned scholars over-look them. Not many guide books on the churches of Rome describe the church of Santa Maria della Divina Provvidenza (Saint Mary of Divine Providence). It is located at Via Alessandro Volta in the Testaccio region. However, you may ring the bell at Via Nicolà Zabaglia 19 to gain access to the interior of the church.

The foundation-stone of this church was laid in 1887, and two years later, in 1889, it was consecrated. It was designed by the architect Antonio Lenti. The church belongs to the Daughters of Divine Providence, founded by the Venerable Elena Bettini (1814–1894).
